I have been studying the folklore of this temple, Pooludayar Sastha Temple, situated in the outskirts of the village called Marukalthalai in Tirunelveli District of South India.  The temple has been remembered with layers of narratives.

  8. Hi All, My KulaDivam also the same. Actually the original name is pooviludayar (Poo - flower, Vil - Bow, Udayar - the person) - The God/person who owning the floweredBow, by the years the name called as pooludayar.
This god is resides in the top of the small mound. In the bottom of the mound we have other Gods, Siva and some Guardians(Kaaval Theivam). One of famous God is Kombu(Horns) Madasamy and Kombu Madathi. Both of this God with human body and bullocks head.
I have interesting stories of (power/Blessing)of this God relative to my Family. The interesting thing is we (as family god) believe in the below Myth, In this temple we celebrate Panguni (Tamil month) Unthiram very grandly and at-least one of the family member will get dream about this god (as a Bullocks). And I promise I will very year around this festival time, even I forgot/didn’t discuss about the festival. I know this seems foolish but I am experiencing myself.

    3. Tnx a lot for the sharing.. Though my family ancestors worshipped this sastha during their lifetime my parents never took me and my brother to this temple until last week .. After my mother in law passed away my youngest brother in law wanted to take me there because last few years I was been suffering with some health issues... When I reached up to the mountain I felt so relief.. As you said earlier I too use to have some wired feel when I hear someone talk about temple and old myth and all. ..But now often I can see vision during sleep like a Bullock standing in front of me. ..Tnx a lot. ..
